Into Film is an educational charity that has been running since 2013.

Its mission is to inspire dynamic ways of learning with film and connecting with cinema to reach the widest possible young audience across the UK. Its aim, to place film at the heart of every child and young person’s educational, cultural and personal development.

The charity is supported by Cinema First, the BFI and Northern Ireland Screen. FDA member companies work closely with Into Film to help them deliver their full programme of education and events over the year. Into Film has 5 inter-related strands as follows:

Film Clubs

More than half of UK schools engage with Into Film’s programme of Film Clubs, which actively support teachers and educators to achieve a wide range of effective learning outcomes in their use of film. The ambition is to provide 5-19 year olds with opportunities to learn about film and develop a passion for cinema.

Resources

Educational resources are designed to realise the potential of film to engage children and young people in topical issues and curricular learning. They range from informal film discussion guides to curriculum-linked resources for the classroom and assemblies that include embedded film clips to help bring learning to life.

Training

Training programmes are delivered to support teachers, educators and youth or community centres. Online courses are also offered and designed to fit around individual schedules. Into Film Club leaders can also receive training to help them make the most of their film club.

Festival

The annual Into Film Festival is the largest youth-focused film festival in the world, with a curated programme of curriculum-linked films screened nationwide across the UK. Screenings are completely free, with special guest speakers and unforgettable opportunities to meet and interact with a variety of filmmaking professionals.

Awards

The Into Film Awards are a celebration of young talent and creatives in the UK. Held in London, with an array of famous faces and film industry talent presenting awards, the Festival aims to discover the most talented filmmakers, reviewers, Into Film Clubs and educators, celebrating those from all backgrounds and abilities.
